10 miles later... Toto, I don't think we're in single digits anymore.

Well, it's official I have hit double digits running. For a while now, I have read so many blogs about running and have followed friends on Dailymile through their running successes. My secret goal has always been to run 10 miles. I never really thought it would happen. Friends kept telling me, you can do it, you are a rower. Let me make clear... being in rowing shape doesn't equal running shape. Even though they are both sports that use similar leg muscles, they are different.

This past Friday I was debating doing my 10 mile run. I am ahead of my training schedule, but I realized that my next long run would have to be next week. Then I realized, I'm having surgery Friday, I doubt I will be able to run 10 miles Saturday! So I took advantage of the warmer weather (not 9 degrees) and still being in Boston. I planned out my run the night before and Saturday morning I took my time waking up, eating breakfast and hydrating. Then off I went. I'm not going to lie and said it was easy, but I just wouldn't stop. Not running this distance I have been dreaming of for two years just wasn't going to happen. I was going to finish this. I hate to talk about my pace, since I'm not a 10 min/mile person, but in this case I will let you know my goal was to finish this run under 2 hours. Despite all the stop lights, some narrow paths with too many runners (especially those with strollers taking up the whole path) and the icy/snowy patches that I hit around Harvard, I finished sub 2 hours. My GPS was a crazy hot mess as usual. It told me I ran 27 miles, with a 4min/mile pace... LOL.

As I reached the end of my run, my favorite song to run to came on. This song always puts me in a great mood "I'm on a roll". Add it to your playlist...  I have to admit I love cheesy pop music.

When I came back from my run I was exhausted.. I literally hit the floor and drank water until I finally got up and made a yummy lunch. It's amazing to think that I will be running 13.1 miles in 46 days. I'm sure I could run a half marathon next weekend if I had to, but I'm glad I am ahead of things especially with surgery coming up later this week.
Right after the run, completely dead.

A few minutes later, still a hot mess and in shock!
